3D-Chladni takes an audio spectrum and drives a three-dimensional particle field through modal resonance, so the structures form as the sound changes. The repository is explicit that this is computed rather than canned: "The particles are not textures or prerecorded animation: they continuously form nodal structures through modal resonance."
It ships in three forms. A canvas-based web build with real-time analysis at up to 60 fps, an Electron wrapper on macOS that can capture system audio, and a native Metal renderer packaged as a screen saver. Four visual modes cover flat sand migration, stable modal sculptures and two more diffuse "cosmic web" variants. The live demo is at nolangz.github.io/3D-Chladni.
Licensing is split: Apache 2.0 for the code, CC BY-NC 4.0 for media assets, and a Pixabay licence for the bundled audio. Created in July 2026 and moving quickly, so pin a commit if you depend on it.
