QLC+ is a free, cross-platform application for controlling DMX and analogue lighting: moving heads, dimmers, scanners and, in our case, LED rings and strobes. It runs on Linux, Windows 10 and later, macOS 10.12 and later, and Raspberry Pi. The current release is 5.2.2, published on 13 June 2026, under the Apache 2.0 licence; the repository has around 1,500 stars and remains actively committed to.
The input side is what makes it useful for cymatics. It handles MIDI, OSC, HID and OS2L alongside DMX, Art-Net and sACN, so a lighting cue can be driven from the same sequencer or DAW that is generating your drive tone rather than being triggered by hand.
It began as a fork of Heikki Junnila's QLC and is maintained by Massimo Callegari. Expect a functional rather than beautiful interface, and a large bundled fixture library.
