John Stuart Reid is a British acoustics engineer who developed the CymaScope, a commercial instrument that images sound on a water surface with controlled lighting and a camera. This lecture, filmed at the Water Conference in Sofia in October 2016 and posted by the CymaScope channel, was originally titled The Holographic Properties of Water.
The parts about the instrument are worth your time: how the water cell is driven, why lighting geometry matters, and how the images are captured. The parts about implications for medical science, and the two proposed laws of cymatics, are Reid's own framing and have not been taken up by mainstream acoustics or medicine. The CymaScope images are real photographs of Faraday-type wave patterns; the meaning assigned to them is another matter.
